Millennium Technology Ltd with sponsorship from NZ FRST (Foundation for Research Science Technology) was pleased to sponsor an industry wide banking seminar on EMV Implementations Worldwide. The seminar was well attended with representatives from New Zealand Westpac, ANZ, BNZ, KiwiBank, TSB, Credit Unions and EFTPOS and switches with one Australian attendee.



Aidan Corcoran co-founder of Acquirer, Ireland, presented many EMV implementations that were first, second and third level implementations worldwide such as:

EMV Chip card penetration slides from Mastercard and Visa

- Case studies of POS in Sweden and UK/Ireland drivers for EMV
- UK and Ireland case studies covered Retailer integration
- first UK Mastercard/Chip & Irish Mastercard/Chip
- migration to DDA
- roll out of contactless cards
- General Payment Card Infrastructure with tips on issues:

- concerning ultra strict validation

- merchant training
- wireless terminals for hospitability industry

- Case study on Saudi Arabia and the creation of a national certification center.


Aidan next covered the processes and stressed the importance of getting it right by:

- test tools.


Contactless card offerings were covered from Mastercard, Visa and AMEX with current pilot schemes and a large implementation in Turkey.
